You know what happens when you listen to your body and your doctor…
You start to feel better.
You don’t need to use your frequent flyer miles to get checked.
You don’t panic every time you don’t feel good.
You get to live your life.
You take precaution but you LIVE.
I got to see Brink yesterday and if you've been following along, he's my lifesaver.
He helped put the pieces back together.
If you ask him, he says "all I did was make the cuts, you did the hard part."
While that may be true, he also...
-kept my family updated
-kept them whole
-kept them sane (not that they were sane before all this)
-kept our spirits up
-laughed with us
-had hard days with us
-and a million more things.
I told him yesterday about my blog and how I was going to write about us. He said to make sure that people know I'm the one who persevered, who pushed through, who challenged myself to fight.
While all that may be true, you can't do that without a care team that doesn't stick by you through it all.
That still puts your biggest fears at ease three years later. Telling me that I am no where close to where I was in 2020 but that I still need to consciously take care of myself every single day.
Sometimes living is harder than dying. Coming to the realization that this is the only body I get. This one shell and if I don't take care of it there are no replacement parts...
A friend just reminded me that I told her to find the things and the people in your life that set your soul on fire. So that's just what I'm doing. I'm surrounding myself with positive people. Those who benefit my life, not take away from it or make it more difficult.
So, to my friends, my family, my nurses, my doctors, my care team and everyone in between, I see you & I appreciate you.
Xo. ✨
