Today is Achalasia awareness day. I have had ups and downs, highs and lows with this disease but it has made me into the person I am today.

In October of 2020 I went in for an esophagectomy after an entire year of battling the worst of it. I have been dealing with this since I was 2 years old but nothing compares to the trials I was put through this past year.

To say that I am grateful to be where I am is the biggest understatement.

To say I’ve hit every setback possible is also an understatement. I lost so much time with my family, I lost part of my lung, I lost my esophagus, I lost my hearing, I lost my voice, I lost my ability to walk and my strength, among many other things. But every setback deserves a comeback.

I am beyond proud of where I am today but I also know that I would not be the person I am today if I didn’t go through all this. I’m so thankful for all the love and support I have from family, friends, and strangers. Xo
