Do you want them?
Have you talked about it with someone?
I’m obviously laying in bed last night rewatching Grey’s Anatomy for the 87th time and this is what they were talking about on this episode.
Miranda and her husband Ben have very different views on what they are willing to put their body through. She says to him,
“You want to be kept alive forever. You can’t deal with a pair of sharp tweezers. You want to be intubated, catheterized, multiple IVs, central lines in the neck and groin, and bed sores all because you can’t get it together, let Jesus take the wheel.”
I had every single one of those. Could you handle them? If so, for how long.
This is a HARD conversation. I beg you to have it with someone.
Thankfully, I had people to decide how much I could handle. But I also could have stopped at any time…
Actually, there was a point when I was going in for my esophagectomy and lobectomy that I knew I was never going to make it out and I had accepted that.
I had accepted that we had done every single thing possible to keep me alive, here and on this earth and that if it was my time to go, then I needed to go.
But I didn’t. I made I through those surgeries and recovery and I was SHOCKED.
How much can you handle? Do you know? Are you realistic about it?
Will you defy the odds? Do you believe in medicine? Do you believe in miracles?
This is a little deep for a Monday morning but I encourage you to think about it and make a plan ❤️

And you are amazing! Love you girl.
