How did you make friends in 2020?

The year of covid and quarantine, how did you meet new people?
I met them at Tufts... and they became my family.
Last year, I didn’t know what my fate would be as I went from ICU to ICU, struggling every day to get better all while my family was not allowed to see me.
I made friends. Through the people who took care of me as their “job,” we managed to become friends. After spending almost the entire year at tufts you become well versed in which nurses you love, which doctors put up with your bullshit and your jokes just to get you to smile.
These are the people who followed me from room to room to check in and see how I was doing. The people who I talk to on a weekly basis now. I was busy being poked and prodded and fighting for my life and they still managed to get a smile on my face most days.
I started to joke with Stan (the director of the SICU, who I called by his first name LOL) that there should be a room with name on it. Eventually we settled on a tufts sweatshirt so I matched the crew.
Along with my actually family, these are the people who helped me get by in 2020 and that I am forever thankful.
