I won.

I won.

I fought so hard for almost three years now for disability.

I had to hire a lawyer and request a hearing from a judge.

I had to plead my case and have everyone around me write letters saying what my impairments were.

It was slightly embarrassing.

And also taxing on my mental health.

I was denied three times before a judge looked at my case.

And only because I had decided to hire a lawyer to help me.

So many people, sitting behind a desk in an office building, tried to tell me what I was and was not able to do.

They judged me by my age and never completely looked at my file.

They tried to tell me that I was fine.

They tried to make me believe that 2020 didn’t happen to me.

They wanted me to quit.

To give up.

Say that it didn’t affect my whole life.

It does.

And now someone saw it…

The judge issued me a fully favorable decision.

Stating that everything that happened to me was my nightmare; that I am recovering from this; that I may not recover from it all completely.

I got the call from my lawyer while driving with Keith and Kamden in the car.

Obviously Keith answered like he always does because I can’t hear on the phone.

He was repeating the words my lawyer was saying.

“You don’t have to do the hearing.”

“Fully favorable decision.”

“Hopefully this helps take the stress off your new family.”

I had to pull over I was crying so hard.

Happy and sad tears.

Someone had just validated everything I have been through.

While I still have a long way to go, I’m happy to be able to spend time at home, watching my son grow, while recovering physically and mentally...

As for today, I’m happy.

I’m working on being present and in the moment.

I’m working on being the best version of me for myself and those around me.

Xo ✨
