The fourth trimester

How has it been 4 weeks already!?

Time is a thief.

My baby boy is already a month old and my hormones are still raging so obviously I’m crying about it.

All of my bad pregnancy symptoms have gone away and I’m feeling better every day.

I’m SO in love with this boy; I didn’t even think it would be possible.

While growing him inside my belly, I told my therapist I was worried about bonding with him.

That’s a real thing that a lot of moms don’t talk about. For some, it comes instantly when you find out you’re pregnant, but for others (like me) it came the minute he was out and placed on my chest. For other moms, it may take longer than that.

When he was put on my chest, I immediately knew I would do anything and everything to keep this boy safe, loved, happy, and healthy.

But that doesn’t mean that this fourth trimester isn’t hard.

It’s the one that’s not talked about.

It’s trying to figure out how to be a parent and a mom and still be a wife, daughter, sister, and friend.

It’s about balance.

And right now I don’t know what that balance is.

All I see is my baby boy growing in front of my eyes and I want to slow down time and squeeze him forever.

This is a learning curve. He’s learning how to be a baby and I’m learning how to be a mom. We’re growing up together.

So while we both spent the last four weeks growing up together, I’d say we’re off to a good start and we’re doing a pretty damn good job.

Xo ✨
